John 12:41-43

⁴¹ Isaiah said this when^[a] he saw his glory and spoke about him. ⁴² Yet many people, even some of the authorities, believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they did not admit it so they would not be thrown out of the synagogue. ⁴³ For they loved the praise of human beings more than the praise of God.
